In the 80’s as a young teenager we got this sign pushed in our faces a few times by teachers and parents, by the time we left school at 16 we were all off into the big wide world to get a job and earn a living and understood the sentiment of the sign.
Looking at the same poster now it seems the ‘teenagers’ could be swapped to ‘under 40’s’.
Not sure exactly if it the fault of parents or the education system but for some reason there has been a pretty rapid change in society. Got to say I just cannot help but giggle at the antics of this group. I get a bit of stick saying they are clueless, humourless, workshy, stay at home, confused, hypocritical geeks. I reckon it’s a bit unfair…..on me… because I never say ALL of them.
Honestly it’s the irony of conflict about them that cracks me up, seemingly they appear unaware of their hypocrisy and it just makes them too funny to ignore.
This is the generation Z who seem to latch on to anything to give them a cause regardless of whether or not they have a clue or experience of said topic.
It’s the generation who still spend most of their times in their bedroom in a sedentary position getting more obese by the year until they get diabetes. They will end up as the first generation living shorter lives than their parents did. They think they are entitled to anything and everything without doing a thing for it. They were not responsible for putting a man on the moon or winning wars….they have achieved nothing amazing because all they do is play on phones, PlayStation and eat avocados.
Funny how they march against government about pollution, climate change and environmental policy all at the same time they are buying phones, gaming consoles, fast fashion and cheap trainers made in countries who cause unbelievable levels of emissions compared to the UK. They know the facts but they cannot stop buying the stuff regardless. Nor does it stop them turning a blind eye to the half-tonne of carbon they use on their gap years to fly to Australia, Vietnam, Peru and Thailand spending their student loans on the air fares.
The Z generation are supposedly so forward thinking that they saw leaving the EU as a step backwards (I agreed!) but stats showed it was this age group with the absolute worst turnout % for the referendum, they could not even be bothered to get to the actual polling booths where it mattered rather than posting about it on Social Media.
Odd too that many find suicide as a decent avenue rather than deal with stuff and get over things. What is the psychology that makes them see death is the best outcome? It can only come from a narcissistic mentality which again comes back to either parents or education, letting them think they are always right.
